Our story

It started with seven acres and a tiny house.

In 2021 Ilya bought seven-plus acres outside Peggys Cove to build a tiny house on. It took about one season to learn that land on its own is not much use — not if you want the dog running loose, or the chickens still there in the morning. Coyotes settle that question quickly.

What settles it back is a fence, and for the length rural lots need, field fence is the only thing that pencils out. We built our own, then kept going. Three seasons later it is still the two of us: Ilya on the quotes and the pounder, Mark when a run needs a second set of hands.

  1. 2021

    Seven acres

    Ilya buys 7+ acres outside Peggys Cove for a tiny house build, and finds out that a big lot is only as useful as its fence.

  2. 2022

    Our own line

    We fence the home property ourselves — dog inside, coyotes outside — and learn field fence the hard way, on ground we have to live with.

  3. 2025

    The pounder

    We buy our first hydraulic equipment, with a post pounder to drive through the rocky soils around here.

  4. Today

    Booking 2027

    Five-foot fence across HRM and out to Windsor, and further afield by arrangement. Still the two of us on every job.

Mark writes software for a living and drives posts plumb the rest of the time, into whatever ground the line crosses. When a run stretches to hundreds of feet and needs the big guns, Mark comes out and it gets done.
